Our treatments
Comforting Hands Chiropractic focuses in using evidence-based research to provide the highest quality treatments to our patients.
01
Hands on manual adjusting
The doctor finds joints that are not moving properly and applies a small amount of force to get movement restored in the joint. The advantages are better range of motion and movement in the joint
02
Low force instrument assisted adjusting
This is using a spring-loaded tool to apply the force instead of the doctor using their hands. This works best if an area is really sensitive or for special conditions such as osteoporosis. The benefits of this include improved range of motion through gentle force.
03
Flexion distraction decompression
Flexion distraction decompression is when we use a specialized table to perform decompression. While the patient is laying face down, the part of the table where their legs are is able to move towards the floor (This motion is called flexion) and is able to move side to side. The doctor uses the flexion distraction technique which includes stabilizing the lower back with one hand while using the other hand to control the movement of the table. Through this motion, the discs in the low back are decompressed which can help to decrease pain and sciatica. Research shows that this technique may also have the ability to help heal a disc herniation faster.
04
Soft tissue treatment
The doctor will feel for different textures in the muscle caused by tightness or muscles knots. If there are tight spots in the muscles, the doctor will perform various soft tissue treatments such as cross friction which is where the doctor will push against the grain of the muscles to help break up adhesion or ischemic compression which is applying pressure to the muscle for a few seconds to stop blood flow and then releasing the pressure. These techniques help increase blood flow to the muscle tissues and helps to loosen them.
05
Rocktape kinesiology tape application
Kinesiology tape can help with pain, reduce swelling, and improve lymph flow. The tape works because of the direction of the fibers and how it is applied to the skin.
06
Electric muscle stimulation
This uses small electrical currents to increase blood flow relax muscles and decrease pain. The electrical current usually feels like a light tapping and does not feel like a shock.
